Charlie and Marilyn Hoessle celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 5.

The couple enjoyed a dinner at Charlie Gitto’s on the Hill.

Charles and the former Marilyn Mueller were married on Jan. 5, 1952, in St. Louis.

Mr. Hoessle worked at the St. Louis Zoo for 40 years, including a 20 tenure as the zoo director. He retired from the zoo in 2002.

The couple has four children: two daughters who reside in St. Louis, a son who lives in Alaska and a son who lives in Colorado.

The couple has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
