After two proposals in the area for cell towers saw strenuous opposition from neighbors last month, one is on hold at the county Planning Commission and another has been pulled by AT&T indefinitely.
At the county planning panel’s July 7 meeting, it voted 8-0 to hold Network Mobility and AT&T’s proposal for a 100-foot cell tower at Crestwood Elks Lodge 2503 at 10261 Bauer Road in Concord.
At a June 9 public hearing on the tower, 65 neighbors showed up to oppose the tower and submitted a petition with 200 signatures against the project.
The commission also voted 8-0 to hold a proposal it had heard at the same public hearing for a 100-foot tower at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fenton.
Just days before the Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen was slated to consider CIS Communications and AT&T’s proposal for a 100-foot tower at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 9907 Sappington Road at a meeting July 8, CIS Communications notified the city it was pulling the tower proposal indefinitely.
Because the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted 8-0, with two members absent, to recommend denial of a conditional-use permit for the tower last month, a supermajority of the eight-member Board of Aldermen would have been required to override the planning panel’s recommendation for denial of the permit.
