Celebrate Missouri at Sappington House

Celebrate+Missouri+at+Sappington+House

Missouri will celebrate 200 years of statehood Tuesday, Aug. 10, and the Historic Sappington House, 1015 Sappington Road, will mark the occasion with readings of “The Cow Cocoon” and ice cream.

The event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. with readings by authors Rachel Nolen and Maria Price at 6:30, 7 and 7:30. The event will also include music by the Missouri Fiddlers and Rocky Mountain cones made at Ronnie’s Ice Cream in Crestwood.

Guided tours through the Thomas Sappington House Museum will also take place. The house was built in 1808, making it 13 years older than Missouri.

Reservations can be made by calling 314-822-8171 or by emailing info@historicsappingtonhouse.org. The event has an entrance fee of $5 collected at the gate.
