St. Louis County Council – 6th District
The race for the St. Louis County Council’s 6th District is between former Mehlville School District Board of Education President Kevin Schartner and newcomer to public office Mike Archer, an Oakville attorney.
Schartner’s leadership during his six years on the Mehlville School Board, including as president during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrates his ability to handle complex challenges with a steady and thoughtful approach. His focus on public safety, including his commitment to law enforcement and local fire departments, aligns with his endorsement by the St. Louis County Fraternal Order of Police. His demonstrated record of nonpartisan leadership is exactly what the County Council needs to move forward collaboratively.
Archer brings a different but equally important perspective. As an attorney with a strong background in law, Archer has outlined a clear vision of reducing government barriers to economic growth and creating a more business-friendly environment. His dedication to supporting senior citizens and promoting ethical leadership in county government shows a thoughtful, people-first approach.
While both candidates have strengths, Schartner’s established experience in public service, his focus on key community issues like safety and his commitment to collaboration make him the stronger candidate to represent the 6th District. The Call endorses Schartner.
Missouri Senate – 1st District
Missouri 1st District senator, Doug Beck, D-Affton, is being challenged by Republican Robert Crump for the statehouse seat.
Crump did not return The Call’s questionnaire, therefore he is ineligible for endorsement.
Beck’s tenure in Jefferson City, first as a representative, and now in the upper chamber, has consistently shown a commitment to bettering his constituents’ communities and working across the aisle when needed to get things done while remaining committed to his platform’s ideals. The Call endorses Beck.
