Board votes to re-employ administrators, teachers for ’11-’12

The Mehlville Board of Education voted recently in closed session to re-employ Central Office personnel, directors, principals, assistant principals, teachers and staff for the 2011-2012 school year.

The March 24 closed session votes came before a unanimous decision in open session to proceed with roughly $4 million in budget reductions for 2011-2012, one of which is a districtwide salary freeze.

As such, Superintendent Terry Noble told the Call that, with the exception of channel changes for teachers, no pay increases likely will be granted next year.

The board voted 6-0 to re-employ the following Central Office staff at their 2010-2011 salaries:

• Assistant Superintendent-Human Resources Lisa Counts, $118,450.

Counts previously was paid $71,070 as a 0.6-time employee.

She will work full time in 2011-2012. Counts was hired full time in 2007-2008 and was paid $103,000.

• Assistant Superintendent-Curriculum Connie Hurst-Bayless, $132,416.

• Assistant Superintendent-Supervision of Schools Brian Lane, $118,450.

• Assistant Superintendent-Supervision of Instruction Vicki VanLaere, $123,701.

The board voted 6-0 to re-employ the following directors:

• Executive Director-Special Services Scott Hayes, who will be paid $107,861.

• Barb Ehlen, 0.5-time Parents as Teachers director and 0.5-time parent educator, who will be paid $65,962.

Ehlen previously was paid $75,384 as director of Parents as Teachers, which will face $54,000 in cuts next year, according to the budget reduction plan approved by the school board.

• Yvonne Morris, director of learning resources/instructional technology, who will be paid $91,034.

• Robert Kern, director of activities at Mehlville Senior High School, who will be paid $72,100.

• Rebecca Czuppon, director of activities, who will be paid $80,340.

• Laura Grayson, director of elementary curriculum, who will be paid $73,025.

• Sarah Johnson, director of Title 1 and remedial reading, who will be paid $77,385.

• Sherri Lange, director of career and technical education, who will be paid $78,025.

• Mark Catalana, director-alternative education, who will be paid $62,000.

Board members also voted unanimously to extend a one-year contract to Dan Gilman for the position of director of transportation for the 2011-2012 school year.

Gilman will be paid $70,000. He will replace Diane Wedel, who is retiring. Wedel’s 2010-2011 salary is $67,247.

The board voted 6-0 to re-employ the following high-school principals and assistant principals at their 2010-2011 salaries:

• Janet Anthony, Oakville Senior High assistant principal, $105,097.

• Brian Brennan, Oakville Senior High assistant principal, $89,610.

• James Kern, Oakville Senior High assistant principal, $94,534.

• Angelo Colona, Mehlville Senior High School assistant principal, $105,852.

• Alicia Landers, Mehlville Senior High assistant principal, $91,860.

• Shannon Pike, Mehlville Senior High assistant principal, $87,000.

• Pollie Richardson, SCOPE/SSLCMS principal, $109,659.

Board of Education members also voted unanimously to extend a one-year contract to Jan Kellerman for the position of Oakville Senior High principal. She will be paid $115,000 and will replace William Scheffler, who is retiring. Kellerman previously served as an assistant principal at OHS. Her 2010-2011 salary is $105,852.

The board voted 6-0 to re-employ the following middle school principals and assistant principals at their 2010-2011 salaries:

• Phil Milligan, Bernard Middle School principal, $106,090.

• Lori Weber, Bernard Middle assistant principal, $83,670.

• John Weber, Buerkle Middle School principal, $103,000.

• Ross Bullington, Buerkle Middle assistant principal, $87,241.

• Mike Salsman, Oakville Middle School principal, $108,251.

• Patrick Bellinger, Oakville Middle assistant principal, $83,670.

• Adam Smith, Washington Middle School principal, $103,000.

• Patrick Keenoy, Washington Middle assistant principal, $86,180.

The board voted 6-0 to re-employ the following elementary school principals and assistant principal at their 2010-2011 salaries:

• Andrea Deane, Beasley Elementary principal, $95,000.

• Kristy Roberts, Bierbaum Elementary principal, $107,558.

• Jeremy Booker, Bierbaum Elementary assistant principal, $80,999.

• Tina Plummer, Blades Elementary principal, $113,849.

• Scott Clark, Forder Elementary principal, $95,790.

• Scott Andrews, Hagemann Elementary principal, $111,737.

• Chad Dickemper, Oakville Elementary principal, $95,790.

• Jim Walters, Point Elementary principal, $109,674.

• Donna Wagener, Trautwein Elementary principal, $105,594.

• Jeff Bresler, Rogers Elementary principal, $110,210.

• Dave Meschke, Wohlwend Elementary principal, $99,472.

• Kathie Fuchs, John Cary Early Childhood Center principal, $110,606.
