A full crowd of Bernard Middle School students, staff, community members and veterans spent the evening of Thursday, Nov. 10, honoring individuals who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military.
The school’s annual Veterans Day Tribute featured an array of patriotic music performed by the Bernard Concert Choir, Symphonic Band and Orchestra students, along with the Oakville High School Men’s Concert Choir.
Sgt. First Class David Keefer served as the master of ceremonies for this year’s event. He began the evening with a note of thanks to the veterans seated in the audience, according to a district news release.
“No matter what branch you served in or what time period, from one serviceman to another, I want to thank you for all that you have done,” Keefer stated in the release.
Besides the musical performances, the program also included a presentation of military colors and several emotive slide-shows and videos. Rep. Paul Curtman, of Pacific, a former U.S. Marine, served as the event’s guest speaker.
More than 150 Bernard students and staff members volunteered their time as performers, greeters and ushers to make this year’s tribute concert a success.
