The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department recently awarded Zane Perkins, a student at Bernard Middle School, the Do the Right Thing Award for helping his grandmother in a time of need.

During winter break when Zane was spending time with his grandmother, she suddenly became ill. Zane assessed the situation, realized she needed assistance and called for help. Thanks to Zane, his grandmother arrived at the hospital just in time to have emergency life-saving surgery.
