Editor’s note: With students in and out of in-person schooling this school year due to the pandemic, there are fewer activities students are able to participate in at school that we can share with the community. So this holiday season we are revisiting past stories. This is from January 2013.
Twenty-seven students at Affton High School competed in the school’s Poetry Out Loud competition Jan. 16, 2013.
Junior Logan Willis won the competition with a recitation of “Degrees of Gray in Philipsburg” by poet Cornelius Eady. Jessica Reed, a junior, placed second for her reading of “Women” by Louise Bogan, and Brooke Brust, a sophomore, placed third with a recitation of Lisel Mueller’s “The End of Science Fiction.”
