Raeshaun Johnson, 22, of McCasland Avenue in East St. Louis, Illinois, has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
The charges are merely accusations. Johnson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
St. Louis County police say the defendant, Johnson, was waiting for his girlfriend to give plasma at Concord Plaza in Sappington when a man approached him and took his girlfriend’s phone from his lap. Johnson allegedly followed the man to the parking lot, where a physical fight ensued, and Johnson stabbed the man several times in the back and wrist.
Police responded to the scene and arrested both Johnson and the victim. Both were taken to the hospital.
Johnson has admitted to fighting the victim, producing a knife and stabbing him. He is being held on a cash-only $100,000 bond. He is not eligible for a 10% bond.
