The 56th United States Colored Troops (USCT) Infantry was honored at a ceremony held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Oct. 20, pictured above. The 56th USCT Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
General Byron S. Bagby, a decorated veteran and native of Fulton, MO was the keynote speaker. He was joined by South Saint Louis Detachment Marine Corp League 183, Gateway STEM High School Air Force J-ROTC and Angela da Silva – adjunct professor at Lindenwood College and President of the National Black Tourism Network – to name a few.
