YMCA to mark Healthy Kids Day Saturday

The YMCA of Greater St. Louis will celebrate its annual Healthy Kids Day Saturday, April 28, with free community events at all branches, including the South County Family YMCA, 12736 Southfork Road.

Educational opportunities will be offered on a variety of topics, including oral health, water safety, fire safety, hand cleanliness, bike checks, helmet fitting, car seat checks and proper nutrition.

With the upcoming summer season, “YMCA Splash” will include information about safety at the beach, in backyard pools, public pools and while boating.

In addition, Y Community Literacy, St. Louis County Library and St. Louis Public Library are collaborating to promote reading and learning throughout the summer.

They will provide free reading instruction to children and adults. Y Community Literacy will distribute information about Y Read and host “Literacy Jeopardy” and other games at all Y branches, according to a news release.

Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South County Family YMCA.
