Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

This is in response to the Oct. 10 letter written by Jan Tucker of Oakville stating that the nation is being punished with national disasters such as extreme weather and mass shootings because of abortion.

If you are looking for the cause of these events being on the rise in recent years, you can direct your attention toward the man sitting in the White House, or Mar-a-Lago, which is where much of his time is spent.

Because of the hatred President Trump incites in this country, shootings have been on the rise in recent years since he has been in office. Because of his shady dealings with foreign leaders such as Putin, he puts our country at risk.

The wildfires in California are being precipitated with climate change, which Trump doesn’t believe is real.

What I find most interesting is the fact that you say God is angered by abortions, but yet I don’t see you mention anything about the babies who have been brought into this world who are forgotten when it comes time for providing financial assistance to those in need — with budget cuts voted for by many of the same people in Congress who are anti-abortion.

Or how immigrant children are being separated from their family, being held in facilities without enough food or toothbrushes — going days without showering, overcrowded and undercared for.

This is in part due to Trump’s departure from decades of U.S. immigration policy that centered on family reunification and asylum.

Where is your outrage on that situation? What do you suppose God thinks about that?
