Ben Wesselschmidt of Crestwood has been named a Pershing Scholar at Truman State University in Kirksville, and will attend this fall on the prestigious Pershing Scholarship.
The Pershing Scholarship is a four-year, full scholarship awarded to outstanding scholars and leaders.
The program is unique among Midwest institutions of higher education and is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards offered to high school graduates.
The option to spend a semester or summer studying abroad is included in the scholarship.
Wesselschmidt is a 2004 graduate of Lindbergh High School, according to a Truman news release.
