Wants federal health department to drop contraception mandate

To the editor:

I know of no known documented case of any human being dying from not having sex.

I know of no known documented case of “the need to have sex” as a contagious disease.

With this factual information, I wonder why the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is mandating that insurance companies provide free contraceptives, sterilization procedures and abortifacients to all women with reproductive capacity?

Is this not a waste of our taxpayers’ money for the Department of Health and Human Services to spend time and money trying to deal with a situation that is not life threatening or contagious? Is this so-called benevolent mandate actually just passing the price tag back onto us who will pay more for our health care insurance by having increased co-pays or increased deductibles?

Do not be tricked by the word “free.” There will be a price. Never have I heard of a couple having to choose between putting food on the table and buying birth control. I have heard of senior citizens having to choose from putting food on the table or being able to afford their prescriptions.

I doubt their prescriptions include contraceptives or abortifacients.

What happened to the government staying out of our bedrooms?

Please contact the Department of Health and Human Services and your legislators and ask them to drop this mandate and focus on areas like mental health issues such as depression and anxiety or physical illnesses like diabetes and heart disease that have many documented cases of killing people.
