Volunteers make Affton Christian Church’s annual dinner a success

To the editor:

The Affton Christian Church on Tesson Ferry Road recently hosted its fourth annual Thanksgiving dinner for members of the south county community — and beyond.

More than 340 community members en-joyed turkey, ham and all the traditions of a Thanksgiving meal.

Without the participation of local businesses, donations from our church family and an overwhelming number of community volunteers who gave up a large part of their day to serve others, this event would not have been possible.

The number of homebound and elderly who requested home delivery of meals more than tripled this year, and the number of individuals who, for financial or personal reasons, needed a place to call home for this day also significantly increased.

Many, many thanks to those of you who simply dropped by to leave a pie or volunteered your time to make this event possible, and especially to those of you who worked on the serving line, washed the dishes, refilled cups and glasses and made our guests feel special.

And to those of you who attended, we certainly hope you enjoyed your meal and your day. We enjoyed serving you.
