Vintage baseball will come to Crestwood

On Saturday, May 17, vintage baseball comes to Whitecliff Park in the city of Crestwood, sponsored by the National Park Service at Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site.

The game, which matches the Rock Springs Ground Squirrels against the Mackville Mudcats, will start at 1 p.m., though the field will be open before that time, according to a news release from the National Park Service.

Attendance is free.

Vintage baseball is a combination of living history and athletic competition.

Players are costumed in 19th century uniforms, and play by the rules and etiquette of that era. It is both familiar to and completely unlike any baseball game you have ever attended, the release stated.

Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park Service, is at 7400 Grant Road. For directions or additional information, call the Visitor Center at 842-3298.
