Veterans Day Services slated

Annual Veterans Days Services conducted by the 10th District American Legion will begin at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel.

Besides wreaths placed by members of the 10th District American Legion, services will include taps and a firing detail.

Commonwealth military staffs at Fort Leonard Wood and Scott Air Force Base will join the Australian, British and the Netherlands consuls in St. Louis to conduct a graveside ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in Section 82 by the Old Flag Circle on Circle Drive to remember the American, British, Dutch and Australian soldiers who died during World War II.

These soldiers were POWs who died during captivity in Japan whose remains were repatriated to the United States after the war and buried in a common grave. The program will consist of laying wreaths, bugle call and a piper.

Services are open to the public.
