A Lemay man on the run for three days after the death of his two roommates has been arrested and confessed to their murder.

After searching for days, the St. Louis County Police Department arrested John Hamm, 42, of the 400 block of Kayser Avenue in Lemay. He faces two counts of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the deaths of his roommates, Robert Hall, 46, and Shannon Larock, 41. Hall and Larock were found dead by police in the house they shared with Hamm at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police had asked the public for help locating Hall’s car, a silver 2014 Kia Optima with Missouri license plate KL2-S3U, and Hamm was found outside the St. Louis area with the car, police spokesman Officer Benjamin Granda said Saturday. He had been seen driving the car the day of the deaths.

Prosecutors added a count of stealing a motor vehicle to Hamm’s charges. Hamm confessed to the murders, police said.

Hall and Larock were stabbed multiple times and hit in the head with a hard object consistent with a hammer, police said.

By the time police found the bodies, investigators say, Hamm was already on the run and there was no sign of forced entry. Before fleeing, he had last been seen at the house earlier that night, and he was also seen driving the Kia the night of the killings. Police sent out a bulletin that Hamm was “armed and dangerous.”

The Bureau of Crimes Against Persons Unit identified Hamm as the suspect after an investigation, which is ongoing, police said.
