Troop 824 member attains rank of Eagle

David Dempsey, a member of Washington Middle School Boy Scout Troop 824, was presented the rank of Eagle Scout during a Court of Honor earlier this year.

Dempsey earned 25 merit badges, was elected to the Order of the Arrow and also served in various leadership positions within the troop.

His Eagle Project consisted of planning, assembling and installing three benches at the Trautwein Accelerated School playground and refurbishing a bench in the outside classroom.

He attended summer camps at S Barr F in Missouri as well as Medicine Mountain in South Dakota and Camp Goshen in Virginia. In 2006, Dempsey hiked 10 days at Philmont High Adventure Camp in New Mexico.

Attending his Court of Honor at Assumption Catholic Church were his parents, Mary and Henry Dempsey; his brother Michael, Star Scout in Troop 824; and numerous friends, family and troop members. Dempsey’s father achieved the rank of Eagle in 1971.

During the Court of Honor, Dempsey presented a mentor pin to Greg Regan, his former Cub Scout leader.

A recent graduate of Mehlville Senior High School, he is attending the University of Missouri at Columbia.
