‘Tom Diehl is a community leader who will fight for what is right’

To the editor:

On Tuesday, April 4, citizens in Mehlville and Oakville will have an opportunity to make a positive change in the Mehlville School District.

Election for two seats on the Mehlville school board is being held on this date, and it is imperative that voters fill these openings with dedicated and qualified people.

Fortunately for all of us, one of the individuals willing to serve is Mr. Tom Diehl. This is the same gentleman who leads the opposition to stop Fred Weber Inc.’s plans to dump a trash-transfer station in Oakville.

You may recall that for speaking out against Weber, Tom was slapped with a $5 million lawsuit. The case went all the way to the Missouri Supreme Court, where it was ultimately dismissed and thankfully, our freedom of speech was maintained.

The point: Tom Diehl is a community leader who will fight for what is right. Anyone who has seen him speak before the County Council knows that he possesses the kind of perseverance, intelligence and integrity that make him an excellent choice for membership on the Mehlville school board. His educational background and business experience more than qualify him to understand the financial requirements of our school system.

Like most of us, Tom Diehl recognizes the problems of our school district and he’s willing to give us his time and do something about them. The least we can do is give him our vote on April 4.
