Time to move on, stop giving Nixon a bad image

To the editor:

In response to the recent stories of Deep Throat and Watergate, I think that the world needs to move on and stop giving President Nixon such a bad image.

Yes, he made his mistakes, but his mistakes are often the main focus of his presidency. Syndicated columnists or even history teachers don’t often talk about his accomplishments in foreign and domestic policy.

Instead they focus on mistakes, mistakes on which that they often judge his whole presidency. The truth of the matter is that President Nixon was someone who had great respect for the Oval Office and his mistakes greatly anguished him.

The old saying: “Never criticize someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes,” is something that needs to be considered when talking about the 37th president of the United States, someone a lot of you voted for, Richard Nixon.
