The Mehlville School District has announced that three students have been chosen National Merit Scholarship semifinalists for the 2016-2017 school year.

The students who qualified are Vincent Duong and Carolyn Ream of Oakville High School, and Anna Herman of Mehlville High School.

An estimated 1.5 million students begin the process of becoming a National Merit Scholarship winner by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The three Mehlville School District students are among the 16,000 students nationwide who made the semifinalist list.

They must now write an essay as part of the process to becoming a National Merit Scholarship finalist. The list of finalists will be announced in February, and the scholarship winners will be announced in April.
