To the editor:
I would like to thank the Crestwood Police Department for monitoring drivers around our neighborhood schools.
I think many people do not pay attention to the 25-mph speed limit when school is starting or ending for the day. Many children and families walk to school, crossing streets such as Sappington Road.
Often I have seen drivers speed past the schools while children are waiting to cross the street. Occasionally, drivers even run the red light at the cross walk.
The presence of a police officer seems to get more attention from drivers than the flashing light indicating the 25-mph limit.
So thank you for taking the time to monitor these areas and help keep our children safe.
