All lanes of Telegraph Road near Denacre Drive in Oakville are reopened after a crash shut down the road for four hours Wednesday morning.
The driver of a car was critically injured in the crash, which involved a car and a box truck. Footage from news helicopters showed the car appearing to be wedged under the truck.
Telegraph Road was shut down for about four hours after the crash, which happened about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Early investigation shows that the car was driving north on Telegraph when it possibly crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the box truck, which was driving south on Telegraph near Denacre, police said.
The only person in the car was the driver, who was critically injured and transported to a local hospital. The driver, a man, has not yet been identified by police.
He remains in critical condition at the hospital, police said.
The box truck had a driver and a passenger, who were not injured in the crash.
Officers from the South County Precinct of the St. Louis County Police Department responded to the scene. The crash is under investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Person and Accident Reconstruction Unit.
Around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, the St. Louis County Police Department said all lanes of Telegraph Road near Denacre Drive in Oakville were going to be shut down for the foreseeable future “due to a bad vehicle accident.”
Investigators were continuing their work on the scene until around 11:30 a.m., when the roadway reopened.
“Please drive safe and be patient. Will update when it’s re-opened,” the department posted on Twitter.
