McCarthy is employed at Long Elementary School, where she began working as an instructional aide 1986.
Her jobs throughout her 16 year career with Lindbergh have included assisting the office personnel, playground and cafeteria duties, and assistant for grades 1 to 5.
Currently, McCarthy serves as a technology assistant where her duties include creating and updating Long’s web page, trouble shooting computer problems, as well as ordering and distributing staff school supplies.
She was described as a valuable support staff person and family member at Long. One of those who nominated McCarthy added, “For the past 16 years Lynn has volunteered extra time to meet the individual needs of the teachers and staff. She is an extremely hard worker and has outstanding leadership qualities.”
“Long school is a great and caring community,” stated McCarthy. “It is a joy to help and assist my coworkers, staff, students and parents.” Her coworkers, staff, student and parents are all a part of her “Long” family.
McCarthy received flowers and balloons from Assistant Superintendent Rick Francis at a surprise assembly announcing her award.
