To the editor:
Teachers in the Mehlville School District would discourage us from using mixed metaphors.
So too, Finance Committee members should not mix income and expenses.
One — income — should determine what is allowable in the other — expenses.
If the income stream has been as constrained as the committee infers, why have district administrators continued to spend beyond our means?
Is it because of bad advice from the Finance Committee? Maybe it is poor oversight from the current and previous Boards of Education and the recently departed superintendent, who was one card trick away from sainthood.
The Mehlville District deserves better, and the taxpayers should demand better.
