Superintendent’s salary should be cut before asking for tax increase

To the editor:

Regarding the financial woes of the Lindbergh School District, I would like to suggest that one of the first places the committee look for cutting expenses — and before asking for a tax increase — would be Superintendent Jim Simpson’s salary. I don’t recall the exact amount and all of the “extras,” but it was very large.

By the way, just what does he do to earn his keep?

Editor’s note: Dr. Simpson’s current salary is $204,750. As superintendent, he also receives additional benefits, including paid family insurance and a monthly travel allowance.
