To the editor:

This letter is to endorse Erica Hoffman as Missouri state representative for the 96th District. Erica is an outstanding leader in our community who has dedicated her life to serving her neighbors. By actively caring for the environment, our schools, and the most vulnerable in our region, she has proven to be a public servant who is in tune with her constituents’ needs. The clear next step for Erica is to represent the 96th in the state capitol.

Firstly, Erica serves as the legislative chair on the board of the Sierra Club and advocates for the group in Jefferson City. During her time on the board, she’s worked on flood plain issues, protecting parks, and recycling rights, moving the Club’s work forward to protect our environment and make the outdoors accessible to all.

Secondly, Erica is a board member of the St. Louis chapter of Step Up, a group with the mission to prevent adolescent substance misuse. As part of Step Up, she recently took action to organize food and supply drives to relieve the economic stressors as a result of the coronavirus. She also helped to get a county ordinance passed to increase penalties of those who sell vape products to minors and increase the distance between marijuana facilities and schools.

Thirdly, Erica is an award-winning leader in the Lindbergh School District. She has been actively involved on the PTO boards at her children’s schools, helping to plan and organize fundraising events to ensure teachers and students have the resources they need to succeed.

Finally, Erica reaches out to her constituents, is constantly accessible, and truly hears their needs and concerns. She carries herself with humility, honesty and integrity. She is a leader and a public servant in the truest sense. The 96th District will be fortunate to have her representing us in the state capital. Please vote for Erica Hoffman on Nov. 3.
