Sunday Night Lights returns to Lindbergh High field

Sunday Night Lights at Lindbergh High School will return on Oct. 16 for a second year, providing a fun and exciting high school football game experience to young children with cancer, according to a district news release.

This year’s event will feature game booths from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and a flag football game at 7 p.m. on Flyers Field at Lindbergh High School, 5000 S. Lindbergh Blvd., and is open to children from Friends of Kids with Cancer and Rainbows for Kids.

Lindbergh’s varsity football team, cheerleaders, Flyerette dance team, Lacrosse club, marching band and student council are working together to make this a night the kids will treasure, the release stated.

The young athlete participants and their families will be treated to a pre-game dinner. Then they will march onto the field and be individually announced as flag football players and cheerleaders, under the stadium lights of Flyers Field.

“We’d like to encourage everyone in the Lindbergh community to come out and support these kids for a fantastic evening,” event organizer Lori Krueger stated in the release.

Scout troops, schools, church groups and other organizations are encouraged to participate in Sunday Night Lights by hosting a carnival game booth in the LHS Commons. Groups who are interested can contact Ann Ratliff at For more information, to make a donation, or to register, visit

Attendance is free and open to the public. Concessions will be sold and all proceeds and donations will go to support the children and families of Friends of Kids with Cancer and Rainbows for Kids.
