Students learn through ‘abilities awareness’
February 13, 2020
Hagemann Elementary School students learned about some of the challenges faced by their peers at the second annual Abilities Awareness Day.
The schoolwide event was organized by school nurse Amy Heidotten.
Outside agencies and parents were invited to present to students in different areas. For example, students learned about the role of a therapy dog. Staff from Lifebridge Partnership, an organization that helps people with disabilities develop skills for independence, worked with different grade levels to help students understand how others may feel when discriminated against.
