“You don’t have to be an elite athlete,” event Chairman Jerry Ehrlich stated in a news release.

“Don’t get me wrong, we do have some outstanding athletes of all ages. But by and large, you just have to be 50 or older and want to have fun,” Ehrlich added.

Interested seniors can choose among a wide variety of sporting activities.

Among the events offered are: archery, art competition, badminton, three-on-three basketball, basketball free throws, accuracy plug casting, basketball around the world, billiards, bowling, bocce ball, cyc-ling, darts, football accuracy throw, football distance throw, golf, golf closest to the pin, handball, horseshoes, orienteering, rac-quetball, shuffle board, soccer kick, soccer game, softball, softball accuracy throw, softball distance throw, swimming, table tennis, tap dance, tennis, track and field, washer toss and weightlifting.

Those who would rather not participate can come cheer on their friends or help put on the event.

Ehrlich still needs volunteers.

“Whether you have one hour, one day or several days to give, your time and commitment is needed and very much appreciated by the organizing committees and by the 1,600-plus athletes,” he said.

The games will be conducted at the Jew-ish Community Center in Creve Coeur.
