To the editor:
I believe there are more than a few disgruntled people angry about the county’s trash-district program.
I, for one, hate the program. First, there are at least two different trash companies traveling up and down my street five days a week.
I was also notified that my subdivision opted out of the trash-district program.
I am not in a subdivision. Over 20 years ago, the person that owned the lot my home is on sold 38 of the 40 acres she owned to a developer.
That subdivision opted out, not me. But because I was grouped into this subdivision, I cannot receive service or the better rate from the winning trash hauler.
So now I have to pay $80 a quarter for just trash and recycling, no yard waste, while the home directly across the street from me pays his hauler $41 a quarter for the same service. I spoke at length with the hauler who won our district, but the hauler refused to even consider servicing my address.
I believe there are people in our county government who have misled us.
