The St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and other regional partners will join Metro Transit to celebrate STL Car-Free Day.

• A jitterswing dance will be offered at the Concord Farmers Club, 10140 Concord School Road. Lessons start at 7 p.m. and dancing begins at 8 p.m.

• “Live Like a Pioneer” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sappington House, 1015 Sappington Road. Shoot a musket; throw a tomahawk! Watch folkways artisans ply their old-time skills such as broom making, woodworking and more. Enjoy the lively strains of the Sperreng and Truman Fiddlers (Lindbergh Schools) and see Regency-era dancing performed by Dance Discovery. Pet miniature goats. And children will have fun at the Young’uns Outpost, with a costumed passport program for craft activities. Make tombstone rubbings at nearby Father Dickson Cemetery.  Event in coordination with Smithsonian Museum Day Live with a museum tour focus on pioneer women. Free admission and parking at Crestwood Elementary School and in the overflow lot off Reco Avenue.

• The Gateway City Big Band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sappington House, 1015 Sappington Road. The 17-piece band with two vocalists is returning due to popular demand. All proceeds support urgently needed repairs at 210-year-old historic Sappington House. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets. South County Toastmasters will be presenting a Youth Leadership Workshop for local students age 12 through 18.  This positive and interactive program helps students to develop their communication and leadership skills through practical experience. The program, led by volunteers of the South County Toastmasters, will be held for eight consecutive weeks beginning today.  Classes are held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Active Wellness Fitness Center, 4282 Telegraph Road.  The cost per student is $10.
