Thursday, Oct. 4

-The Retired Men’s Club of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church will meet to play bridge from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the church, 45 W. Lockwood Ave. Men of all faiths are welcome.

-Mothers of Preschoolers will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at South County Church of the Nazarene, 2500 Telegraph Road. Child care is provided.

-The SAJE Senior Ministry will offer a free chair exercise session for older adults from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Episcopal Church of the Advent, 9373 Garber Road.

-The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Kiwanis Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rich & Charlie’s, 9942 Watson Road.

-The SAJE Senior Ministry will sponsor open-play pickleball, including instruction for new players, from noon to 3 p.m. at the St. Elizabeth of Hungary gymnasium, 1414 S. Sappington Road. Cost is $3.

-Free drop-in play of American Mah Jongg will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pavilion at Lemay, 305 Gregg Road, Jefferson Barracks Park. All levels are welcome; instruction will be offered for newcomers.

-Women facing cancer, who have a loved one facing cancer or who are caregivers are invited to join the Daughters of St. Paul for Mass, fellowship, appetizers and a discussion facilitated by Donna Heckler, author of “Living Like a Lady When You Have Cancer”, 4 to 6 p.m. at Pauline Books and Media, 9804 Watson Road. -The League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis will be hosting a forum about issues pertaining to the statewide ballot on Nov. 6. The forum will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Road.

-The St. Lucas United Church of Christ social justice group will host a forum to discuss immigration to the United States at 7 p.m. at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road. Discussion will center on why people immigrate, laws required of immigrants and making a new home in St. Louis. All are welcome.

-Overeaters Anonymous will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 9907 Gravois Road, Suite E. Enter at the rear of the building.

Friday, Oct. 5

-The MOMS Club of St. Louis County-South will meet at 10 a.m. at Grace Union Church, 3900 Union Road. The chapter includes members from south county and Jefferson County.

-A jitterswing dance will be offered at the Concord Farmers Club, 10140 Concord School Road. Lessons start at 7 p.m. and dancing begins at 8 p.m.

-ZumbaGold dance exercises geared to older adults will be offered by the SAJE Senior Ministry from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 1420 S. Sappington Road. The cost is $3 per class.

-Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 765 Lemay Ferry Road, will offer open prayer sessions from 11 a.m. to noon, Fridays, Mondays and Wednesdays.

-Grant’s View Branch of St. Louis County Library will host a “Tabletop Game Kickoff Party” to give the library’s new strategy game collection a test run. The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., 9700 Musick Road. Light refreshments provided. Ages 12 to adult.

-Ride Route 66 with your friends at Sunset Hill’s first ever Bike Cruise. Travel historical Route 66 and see landmarks along the route. Start at Sunset Plaza and ride along Route 66 (Watson Road) on a ten-mile loop to Mackenzie Point Plaza and back from 10 p.m. to midnight. $20 per person and $35 per couple. -Come out to Ferndale Park for a movie in the park featuring Hocus Pocus hosted by the City of Crestwood from 7:30 to 10 p.m., Ferndale Park, 974 Liggett Ave.

-Birthrightstl Counseling will be having a free diaper give away for pregnant and new moms from 1 to 3 p.m., St. Martin of Tours Parish, 610 Ripa Drive. Diapers sizes are for babies 15 pounds or smaller.

-The Webster Groves Rotary Club will have their All You Can Eat Pancake Festival from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (lunch) and 4 to 8 p.m. (dinner) at Webster Hills Methodist Church, 698 W. Lockwood Ave. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds benefit local scholarships.

-The Monastery of St. Clare will have a Holy Hour for priestly and religious vocations from 7 to 8 p.m., 200 Marycrest Drive.

-Have cult classic fun searching for One-Eyed Willie’s pirate treasure and enjoy a special presentation. from 6 to 10 p.m. at the St. Louis Science Center, 5050 Oakland Ave. Catch a free screening of The Goonies in the OMNIMAX® Theater at 10 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 6

-The International Folk Dance Association will sponsor folk dancing from 7:30 to 10:45 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, 6901 Washington Ave.    

-The Jefferson College Concert Band will host a concert at 4 p.m. at the Hillsboro Civic Center and Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21. The concert will feature patriotic and regional selections as the finale of the Jefferson County 200th Bicentennial Exposition.

-The Spirits of Sappington House will come alive in the Historic Sappington House, 1015 S. Sappington Road from 9 to 10:30 p.m. following the Javier Mendoza fundraising concert. The event continues on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m, as well as Oct. 12 and 13.

-Local artists will be having a show and sale to benefit Beads Of Courage, a program for children coping with serious illness, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 5508 Telegraph Road. Handmade jewelry, beads, boxes, wall art and much more are available for purchase. Free admission. The event continues on Oct. 7 from noon to 4 p.m.

-The City of Crestwood will host a pop-up traffic calming demonstration on Garber Road between Buxton and Queenston drives. Colorful tires, cones and plants will be used for temporary bike lanes and crosswalks to slow down traffic and create safer streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

-Javier Mendoza, also known as Hobo Cane, will have a concert at the Sappington House Museum from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the gate.

Sunday, Oct. 7

-Oakville Elks Lodge No. 2726, 2726 Oakville Elks Lane, will host its annual fall meat shoot starting with practice at 11:15 a.m. First round starts at noon. Open to all, so bring your shooting buddies. For more information, contact (314) 614-2544. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The Oakville Elks meat shoot occurs every Sunday through Dec. 2.

-Enjoy a hayride through Minnie Ha Ha Park’s trail system at the Hayride Haul from 3 to 8 p.m., Minnie Ha Ha Park, 801 Old Gravois Road. Hayrides depart every 15 minutes and are $3 a person.

-No More Sitting Out: Reclaiming Our Democracy: Metropolitan Congregations United congregation on out of school suspension, police in the schools, ballot issues on minimum wage and election equity will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, 204 Lockwood Ave. For more information visit www.mcustlouis.org.

-The St. Louis County Senior Card Club for pinochle and bridge players meets from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crestwood Community Center, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane.

-Line dancing will be offered at the Concord Farmers Club, 10140 Concord School Road. Lessons are offered from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by open dancing until 9:15 p.m.

-St. Anthony’s Medical Center offers new moms the opportunity to meet new friends, share information and experiences and support from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Hyland Education and Training Center, 10020 Kennerly Road. -The Crestwood Senior Dance Club meets from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Community Center, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane. Ballroom, circle tag, round, line and Latin dancing are among the styles featured.  All skill levels are welcome. The cost is $1.

-The Meramec-Arnold Elks, 1515 Miller Road, will offer bingo at 6:30 p.m.

-The Mehlville Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 5252 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Dues cost $20 per year. Visitors are welcome. Snacks, dessert and coffee are served.   

-Daughters of St. Paul will begin their 12-part DVD series, “The Bible and the Virgin Mary: Journey Through Scripture”. Tom Block will facilitate the series which will be held Tuesdays beginning Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at Pauline Books and Media, 9804 Watson Road.

-The South County Older Residents Computer Club will hold its monthly meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. at Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road. This month’s presentation will be hosted by Michael Ajero, St. Louis County Government’s security expert.

-St. Louis Community College and Boeing St. Louis will host their annual Women in Aerospace Manufacturing information event at St. Louis Community College’s Center for Workforce Innovation, 3344 Pershall Road. Get hands-on introduction to aerospace manufacturing careers. The workshop is free but registration is required at www.stlcc.edu/boeing.
