Friday, Dec. 13

  • Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, will host a Ranger Talk at 2 p.m.. Ranger Ashton will discuss other Confederate surrenders after Appomattox. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 1:30 p.m.
  • The Technology Students Association at Oakville High School, 5557 Milburn Road, is hosting “STEM Night Out” from 6 to 10 p.m. “STEM Night Out” is an event where parents can drop off kindergarten through fifth grade children to learn about STEM-related ideas through fun activities. The event is $30 per child.
  • First Baptist Church of Oakville, 6741 Telegraph Road, is hosting an indoor computerized light show at 7 p.m., and again on Dec. 14. The event is free and free cookies and hot chocolate will be provided.

  • St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road, will host a living nativity scene from 4 to 7 p.m. Complementary hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.
  • St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 2761 Telegraph Road, will host a cookie sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Gateway Blue Star Mothers invites members of the public to join them at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony at 11 a.m. Wreaths will be placed at the resting places of veterans at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
  • Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 5252 S. Lindbergh, will hold a cookie walk from 8 a.m. to noon in the gym. Cost is $9 per pound of cookies.
  • Prince of Peace United Church of Christ, 4966 Towne South Road, will host a cookie and craft sale from 8 a.m. to noon. A variety of home-baked cookies will be available for $9 a pound.
  • “Butch’s Polka Kings” will provide entertainment for visitors at the Monroe County History Museum, 724 Elaine Drive, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 127 St. Paul St., Columbia, Illinois, will host the 10th annual Christmas Fair Trade Crafts Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Event also takes place on Dec. 15.
