• Sen. Scott Sifton, D-Crestwood, will be the keynote speaker at a Veterans Day ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Crestwood Veterans Memorial Monument at the Government Center, 1 Detjen Drive. City offices will be closed Friday.
• The Bernard Middle School Band and Choir will perform patriotic music during a Veterans Day Concert at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium, 1054 Forder Road. Veterans from all branches of the military will be recognized.
• The St. Louis Banjo Club will offer a free performance at 7:30 p.m. at Concordia Turners, 6432 Gravois Road.
• Colleen Dolinick of the Developmental Center at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and David Linton, Republican candidate for the 97th District Missouri House seat, will speak during a meeting of the Tesson Ferry Township Republican Club at 7 p.m. at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 4355 Butler Hill Road. Friday, Nov. 10
• First Baptist Church Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road, will host its annual packing party for Operation Christmas Child at 6 p.m. in Room 1 of the Family Life Center. The packing party is open to the public; non-members are welcome. Boxes and gift items will be ready for volunteers to pack.
• Friends of 824 will host its second annual Night at the Mouse Races at 7 p.m. at the Pavilion at Lemay, 305 Gregg Road, Jefferson Barracks Park. The cost is $20 per person for tables of eight. Friends of 824 is a non-profit corporation established to promote character, leadership development, exercise, civic understanding and pride in youths ages 11 to 18. Pro-ceeds will benefit area youth groups.
• A jitterswing dance will be offered at the Concord Farmers Club, 10140 Concord School Road. Lessons start at 7 p.m. and dancing be-gins at 8 p.m.
• Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 765 Lemay Ferry Road, will offer open prayer sessions from 11 a.m. to noon Fridays, Mondays and Wednesdays.
Saturday, Nov. 11
• The Mehlville Lions Club will host its inaugural Mouse Races at St. Matthias the Apostle Catholic Church, 796 Buckley Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and races will start at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 per ticket for tables of 10; veterans receive a $5 discount. Attendees must be 21 years old.
