• Feed My People will host its fourth annual National Hunger Awareness Day Chef Food Pantry Challenge from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Orlando’s, 4300 Hoffmeister Ave. Six talented chefs will prepare a delicious array of culinary temptations all made with the same ingredients Feed My People clients receive from the food pantry. • Registration is underway for a retreat for U.S. military veterans, the only one of its kind in the Midwest, that will take place from June 30 through July 2 at the White House Jesuit Retreat, 7400 Christopher Drive. A series of lectures will be presented by the Rev. James Conroy, a Jesuit priest and Vietnam veteran, followed by small-group discussions and prayer services. The retreat is designed to help male and female veterans find peace and learn coping skills in a faith-filled environment. Participants will receive private accommodations and meals.
