Born in St. Louis, Mrs. Cowen resided in Concord.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Cowen; daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie and Tim Becker and Kimberly and Christopher Seger; son, Michael Cowen; mother, Katherine Scherting; sister, Shirley Fischer; brother, John Scherting; sister-in-law, Sally Thomas; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Cowen was preceded in death by her father, John Scherting.

Services were at St. George Catholic Church. Visitation was at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons, south county. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
