SFA School, Oakville community aids family who lost house to fire

When a house fire destroyed the home of one of the St. Francis of Assisi School families, the St. Francis of Assisi community and the Oakville community stepped up to offer assistance.

St. Francis of Assisi School families held two “Dress for a Cause” days. For a minimum of $1, students could dress down and all of the money raised would benefit the family.

Over $2,000 was raised over the two-day period. Families also donated new and gently used toys, bedding, shoes and clothes.

“The SFA family is amazing and this big circle of love has truly surrounded us,” a family spokesperson stated in a news release.

The Blades Elementary School community also helped by donating many of the items collected for the school’s annual Giving Tree to the family affected by the fire.
