A holiday card created by Oakville Elem-entary second-grader Catherine “Cat” Ak-ley, 7, recently was chosen as the winner in UniGroup Inc.’s holiday card contest.

Cat’s winning card beat out more than 50 other entries, according to a Mehlville School District news release.

UniGroup of Fenton, the parent company of United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit and other transportation-related companies, is one of the nation’s largest privately owned transportation companies.

Her winning card will be used as the company’s corporate holiday card and will be sent to all employees as well as vendors, agents and customers.

This is the first year UniGroup asked children of its employees to design its holiday card.

Cat’s father, Steve Akley, is a UniGroup employee.

For the contest, children were asked to submit one drawing using any medium, such as crayons or markers, and were asked to illustrate what the holiday season means to them. Cat’s entry depicts a snowy winter scene, including a snowman and a pine tree.
