Scouts planning ‘Good Turn’

For more than five decades, roughly 4,000 Boy Scouts have gathered at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery before Memorial Day to decorate each of the 190,000 graves with an American flag.

The tradition, entering its 65th year, is one of the longest-running Memorial Day events within the Boy Scouts of America.

The 2014 Memorial Day “Good Turn” will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25.

The public is welcome to attend the event.

It takes just two hours for Scouts to place more than 190,000 flags, which are provided by the cemetery.
