Ryan will help MFPD board continue reforms

To the editor:

After reflecting on the wage scale of Mehlville Fire Protection District employees as reported in the March 8 Call, I, too, am astonished.

Why are we paying the total pension contribution and family health insurance, plus what appears to be exorbitant salaries? If the lowest-paid position is $69,500 — office worker? janitor? — then something is out of whack here. Our police and other public workers do not make these wages plus unusual fringe benefits.

On April 3, Mehlville voters can show support for the present Mehlville Fire Protection District Board of Directors by electing Ed Ryan as director.

This will ensure that the present directors, along with Ryan, will be able to continue the reforms that have brought about needed changes in benefits and wages to reduce our taxes.
