The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Rotary Club is making winter a little warmer for 104 Lindbergh students, through the club’s annual Operation Warm program.

It is one of several programs the Rotary sponsors each year serve families in the school district.

In 2015, the Rotary Club donated 104 coats, 60 hats and 60 pairs of gloves to Lindbergh students. Year round, the Rotary Club also provides 60 weekend meal packages to elementary schools, and for the first time this year, the club provided 62 backpacks in August for students in need, to help them have a positive start to the school year.

The Rotarians work closely with Lindbergh guidance counselors to identify students and families who will benefit from these generous program.

This is the fourth year that the Rotary has donated coats to Lindbergh students. Superintendent Jim Simpson, who is a Rotary Club member, said this program provides real assistance during cold winter months, when a coat is a necessity for every child, not a luxury.

“Lindbergh Schools and the Crestwood-Sunset Hills Rotary have a longstanding positive relationship that is truly making a difference for families in need, and we are grateful for their support,” Simpson stated in a news release. “This kind of local support is what keeps our community strong, and we thank the Rotarians for everything they do.”
