Oakville Senior High School senior Ryan Richter recently was named an Outstanding Student of America and is under consideration for a $1,000 scholarship.
This honor is bestowed to less than 1 percent of students nationwide, a news release stated. The Outstanding Students of America organization of Tuscaloosa, Ala., has awarded more than $55,000 in scholarships to students such as Richter during the past few years, a news release stated.
To earn the honor of Outstanding Student of America, Richter had to maintain a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and participate in community-service and school ac-tivities. If he is selected as a scholarship winner, Richter, a senior, will be featured in the organization’s annual publication.
He is the son of Robert and Janet Richter of Oakville.
