Richard Roy Lotz

Died: Saturday, October 24, 2015

Age: 86

Richard Roy Lotz, 86, died Oct. 24.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was born April 1, 1929 and resided in Sunset Hills. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in mathematics, Mr. Lotz taught mathematics and probability and statistics at St. Louis Country Day School from 1960 to 1970.

With his father, Roy Lotz, he co-founded Tower Tee Golf in 1963. He was a lifetime member of the Professional GolfersÂ’ Association of America and qualified for and participated in three U.S. Senior PGA Championships, three U.S. Golf Association Senior Open Championships and numerous PGA Senior Tour events.

Mr. Lotz traveled extensively and loved Ireland, South Florida and Palm Springs.

He loved the Ballybunion, Pebble Beach and Mayacoo Lakes golf courses, but his favorite place to play golf was Tower Tee, his home course.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara A. Lotz, and their daughter, Jennifer Duran. Mr. Lotz was preceded in death by Jeane C. Lotz and their daughter, Laura Ellen Karr. He is survived by two children with Jeane, Stephen L. Lotz and Carolyn Barnes. He is also survived by his sister, Nina L. Bappe, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Lotz donated his body to Washington University School of Medicine.
