Restrictions on abortion for rape, incest are outmoded and outdated

Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

Old-thinking men and old-thinking women appear to be frantically maneuvering to keep women in the Dark Ages by exerting pressure to keep them “barefoot and pregnant,” compliant, surrendering their independence and control over their own destinies.

As usual, wrinkled old dudes count on their dusty, musty, crusty words to rule and control, while totally ignoring needed care or support for any infants created through rape or incest, much less for their mothers.

The record of care in the USA for the defenseless and needy is pitiful — especially for unwanted children. These “paragons of virtue” do not extend their interest toward children needing care, housing and placement in safe surroundings.

Another sad example of “out of sight, out of mind.”

I also find it appalling that, as usual, the woman is to blame in these cases, especially for having been raped and subjected to incest. It’s another case of “magic sperm” that just appeared out of nowhere.

“Ain’t nothin’ new,” just a pitiful rerun of stodgy, outmoded, outdated ideology.
