To the editor:
This is in response to William D. Kraus’ Dec. 14 letter.
While I understand Mr. Kraus’ desire to protect his president, he is obviously unfamiliar with Mad Magazine. The portrayal of George Bush was clearly that of dopey, bumbling “What, me worry?” Alfred E. Neuman, not that of an “evil devil.”
Most versions of the “devil” throughout history have attributed a level of cunning that even a “middle-of-the-road” publication such as the Call wouldn’t associate with our current president.
I also think the word Mr. Kraus was searching for was “indicative” when associating the commentary he found offensive with a “radical-left” publication, not “appropriate.”
