Recalls Robinson’s ‘attacks’ against Killoren

To the editor:

As a longtime Crestwood resident, I am extremely upset about the untruths being circulated during this mayoral election.

I believe it is important to provide some historical perspective to set the record straight.

It has been said that if we cannot remember the past, we may be condemned to repeat it. I am not interested in repeating our past; I am only interested in improving our future.

It was not too terribly long ago when Roy Robinson was running for mayor of Crestwood. He lost twice and is now trying again.

I wonder how many of our residents remember the vicious attacks Mr. Robinson levied against our beloved former mayor, Pat Killoren? Pat, the longest serving mayor in Crestwood and the incumbent, endured countless verbal assaults from Robinson. These were both unfounded and unwarranted, and it seems that little has changed with Mr. Robinson in the ensuing decade. The current rhetoric is just as caustic and has no basis in fact.

We have enough problems in Crestwood, and divisive behavior only hurts us.

We cannot afford a step backward, only forward. That is why I will back Tom Fagan for mayor, and I encourage those who remember Pat Killoren to do the same.
