To the editor:
In response to a letter to the editor in the Nov. 5 St. Louis Call defending Trump’s reaction and listening skills regarding the coronavirus, Markus Schwarz stated, “It is important to be rational and not let our hatred blind the truth.”
OK, so to find the truth I Googled “what did Trump know (about COVID-19) and when did he know it?”
Per factcheck.org, on Feb 7, 2020, Trump stated to Bob Woodward “… this is deadly stuff.”
Yes, Mr. Schwarz, it is important to be rational, but not let us settle for half-truths.
A little more research on your part (about five minutes’ worth) perhaps may have changed your comment “I believe Trump did the best he could with the information he had.”

Editor’s note: Mr. Schwarz’s letter was received by The Call ahead of Bob Woodward’s book, but published afterward.
