Reader tired of ‘negative articles’

To the editor:

I couldn’t disagree more with Mr. Anthony’s article in the Sept. 11 Call.

Gary Vincent has been Ward 2’s ear at City Hall for the past six years and has done an exemplary job at it.

The job can be difficult on our aldermen when their many constituents place opposing demands upon them.

The Kohl’s store development and the Crestwood Swim Club pool are our latest civic examples.

For the record, it wasn’t Gary Vincent chasing after Kohl’s with all those TIF dollars — it was the collective work of our city planners and aldermen together.

We place the burden on them as our representatives to make our community better. I for one am very pleased with these two new projects.

As for Mr. Vincent’s conflict of interest, I believe if you go back through the records you will see that he abstained on every vote involving the pool.

Let’s face it, it’s a thankless job being an alderman. The pool and Kohl’s are completed and we are a better community for it.

I am very glad Mr. Vincent is my representative and am tired of Mr. Anthony’s negative articles.

Let’s move forward.
